Open Buffalo stands steadfast to our commitment to achieve racial equity in Buffalo. That means that families can afford to feed ourselves, we aren’t living in a state of constant fear, and that we can actually have joy in our daily lives.
In the wake of the senseless act of white supremacist terrorism that claimed the lives of 10 innocent people at the Jefferson Avenue Tops Friendly Market on May 14, 2022, Open Buffalo stands in solidarity and love with our neighbors here in the Cold Springs neighborhood. As we collectively work to heal ourselves, we are grateful to be able to offer direct supports to people impacted (directly and indirectly) by this tragedy.
We are conducting door-to-door outreach to determine immediate community needs caused by this heinous act.
We are mobilizing resources, volunteers, and supplies to meet those needs.
We are also compiling this list of resources and supports that are available for community members. You can view or download the "Jefferson Ave Strong" Community resource guide below.
