Open Buffalo is proud to present “Involved, Informed, Invincible!” a free evening of music, dance, and activism, featuring leaders from the Young Invincibles and local performers on Wednesday, August 7, in Asbury hall on Delaware avenue.
Young Invincibles is a national organization committed to mobilizing and expanding opportunities for young Americans between 18 and 34 years of age on issues like higher education, health care, and jobs. Aaron Smith, Co-founder and Executive Director and Jasmine Hicks, State Outreach Coordinator of Young Invincibles will be presenting tools to engage in Buffalo's civic structure in their talk "The Power of Our Generation: Tools to open Buffalo."
The goals of Young Invincibles are similar to Open Buffalo’s shared vision of an equal, just, and free city driven by a united and empowered community open to full democratic participation, innovative ideas and policies, new leaders from diverse communities, and meaningful economic opportunity and sustainable wealth creation for all.
A number of local music performers have stepped up to join them in #becomingthechange for Buffalo.
Inspirational Soul and Hip-hop singer Drea D'Nur will be joined by rapper Quadir Lateef on stage to open up the evening. While Verve Dance Studio will present a dance workshop followed by an interactive performance after the talk.
A full line up and program will be announced soon, with additional performers to be added. Participants can pre-register for the free event and follow #becomingthechange on Facebook and Twitter for up to the minute information.
Supported by the Open Society Foundations and the John R. Oishei Foundation.
