The Community First Alliance hosts a fundraiser to help establish the first Community Land Trust in the city of Buffalo.
The Fruit Belt Community Land Trust 's mission is to empower Fruit Belt residents to create and control vacant lots (currently owned by the City of Buffalo) in order to maintain affordability and generate community wealth through collective ownership.
The FBCLT values people and long-term stability of the Fruit Belt neighborhood over short-term growth and profits. The FBCLT will continue to nurture the spirit of unity that exists in the Fruit Belt neighborhood through preserving the affordability of the neighborhood and the empowerment of residents as decision-makers. Lastly, the FBCLT will champion development without displacement by setting forth anti-gentrification policies, holding developers accountable, and investing in locally owned and Black-owned businesses that meet the needs of the neighborhood.
