From our friends at the Our City Coalition:
How to Run for Common Council in Buffalo: Let’s Do This!
The next workshop on how to run for elected office will be Wednesday, February 20, 2019. Due to the anticipated high attendance for this event, Our City will be hosting it at School 77, 429 Plymouth Ave. Please add your RSVP to Our City’s event page:
The workshop will focus on building a campaign/leadership team with perspective candidates and those in Buffalo who are looking to gain an understanding of the process and how-to’s of running for the Buffalo Common Council.
All nine Buffalo Common Council seats are up for re-election in 2019, with primaries scheduled for June 2019. But what does it take to run for this office and why is it important? The Council is a representative voice and advocate for all people who live, work, and visit The City. Hear from experienced officials and advocates about what it takes to run for Common Council, the timeline for doing so, the best practices and necessities of petitioning, and the importance of building a leadership team to support your campaign.
These workshops are free and open to the public. Please RSVP by noon on Wednesday, February 20th.
