From the International Institute of Buffalo:
What: HELLO Orientation
Do you want to make a personal impact in the life of a newly arrived refugee? Consider becoming a HELLO volunteer and teaching a homebound refugee basic English. This program offers homebound clients, typically women with young children or the elderly, a chance to learn language skills to navigate their new community.
HELLO (Home English Language Learners Outreach) volunteers work with clients for just 2 hours a week. Exposure to a new language for 2 hours per week makes a radical difference in language acquisition. Join the HELLO program and help our clients on their journey to become citizens - by first learning English!
Anyone can become a HELLO volunteer - no teaching experience needed! This orientation will walk you through everything you need to know. If you're interested, register for our HELLO volunteer orientation by clicking "going" on this event or emailing volunteers@iibuff.org.
When: Saturday March 9th, 10am - 12pm
Where: International Institute of Buffalo, 864 Delaware Ave, Buffalo, New York 14209
