More Info on CEDAW-Buffalo:
The Cities for CEDAW-Buffalo Campaign is an initiative of a coalition of gender rights advocates and allied organizations committed to promoting gender equity and equality in Buffalo, New York. We aim to pass a city ordinance that requires city policy to reflect the gender equity principles of the UN Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (“CEDAW”), a widely-ratified human rights treaty that requires governments and society to proactively address gender-based discrimination in all areas of public and private life, including employment, wages, job security, public safety, child-care, domestic violence, and reproductive health. Specifically, we are working toward the adoption of a city ordinance that creates regular reporting and planning processes in city departments and agencies designed to ensure that all city policies benefit women, men, girls and boys, regardless of gender identity or expression, fairly and equitably.
