At Talking Leaves Books on Main Street in Buffalo
Thursday, July 7th, 7pm
We live in a time of widespread frustration and alienation, driven largely by a failed economic system that has concentrated wealth and political power at the top. In this context, Building a Healthy Economy from the Bottom Up: Harnessing Real World Experience for Transformative Change offers stories, insights and analysis that are at once hopeful and urgent. The book connects a broad foundation of “New Economy”, economic democracy and sustainable development experiences from around the nation with a clear economic analysis and an array of public policy ideas. Taken together, these three elements help point the way towards more widely shared prosperity and a more resilient, vibrant economy. According to Stacy Mitchell, author of Big Box Swindle, the book “deftly weaves a vision for building a better economy – one that truly serves our needs and long term well-being – with down-to-earth stories and practical tips for how to set these changes in motion.”
Author, Anthony Flaccavento, will be sharing some of the core themes from the book ata presentation and discussion at Talking Leaves Bookstore, at 3158 Main Street, Buffalo, on Thursday evening, July 7th, at 7pm. Flaccavento is an organic farmer, consultant and small business owner in the Appalachian region of southwestern Virginia. He writes and speaks regularly on economic justice, sustainable development and related issues, and also produces a weekly, five minute You Tube series called “Take Five with Tony!”.
