About Buffalo United Front: The goal of Buffalo United Front is to reduce incidences of youth violence while increasing the ability of participating groups to perform their core activities. In many instances of youth-driven neighborhood violence, the ability of individuals to intervene in a timely fashion can mean the difference between understanding and mitigating the problem and the escalation of violence.
About The Freedom Wall: The Freedom Wall depicts portraits of 28 notable civil rights leaders in American history, past and present, on a large concrete wall at Michigan Avenue and East Ferry Street. The scale of the wall creates a unique opportunity to present a historical narrative that recognizes well-known national activists alongside equally important but less-widely-known local leaders.
The Public Art Initiative was established and is supported by leadership funding from the County of Erie and the City of Buffalo. AK Public Art mural projects are generously underwritten by the New Era Cap Foundation. Additional support for this mural has been provided by Hyatt’s Graphic Supply Company.
