From our friends at WNY Peace Center and Justice for Migrant Families of WNY:
Aviva Chomsky on Immigration and Labor
September 27th, Buffalo NY
We are proud to host Aviva Chomsky on September 27th at 7:00 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 371 Delaware Ave.
Chomsky is a scholar of Latin American Studies who writes on issues of immigration and labor. Some of her books include "Undocumented: How Immigration Became Illegal," and "They Take Our Jobs! And Twenty Other Myths About Immigration."
Chomsky works as a professor of history and the coordinator of Latin American Studies at Salem State University in Massachusetts. She says of herself: "Much of my scholarly work can be traced back to the year I spent working for the United Farm Workers union back in 1976-77. I credit that experience with sparking my interest in the Spanish language, in migrant workers and immigration, in labor history, in social movements and labor organizing, in multinationals and their workers, in how global economic forces affect individuals, and how people collectively organize for social change."
