Fried & Fried in Buffalo is an exciting arts-filled weekend celebrating two generations of compassion, creativity and caring in a culturally iconic Buffalo family.
On November 18 and 19, Mindy Fried, daughter of the late Manny Fried, beloved Buffalo educator, actor, playwright and labor activist, comes to Buffalo for an exciting weekend that blends literature, scholarship and the arts in a series of events organized around family, caregiving and aging with dignity. Her newly released Caring for Red: A Daughters Memoir offers a moving and colorful account of caring for her fiercely independent, ninety-seven-year-old father in the last years of his life.
Join us in events and conversations that weave together theatre, spoken word performances, and conversations to explore parental caregiving, family and elder policy, political and cultural influences and the challenge of maintaining artistic vitality through life’s transitions.
All events are free and open to the public.
