Born and raised in Buffalo, Rebecca Castaneda spent her childhood learning from her grandmother and parents about civic engagement. After an internship with the Elmwood Village Association and graduating from Buffalo State College, Rebecca spent four years working in government and politics in Nevada. The stark differences between rural Nevada and her hometown made her appreciate the strong neighborhood identities and diversity in Buffalo. Rebecca hopes to be a positive change agent in the community and currently works for the New York State Assembly. She aspires to one day work as an elected public servant to promote economic equality and strength in Buffalo and Erie County.
