Marco Notaro is serving in his second year as an AmeriCorps VISTA with Literacy New York Buffalo-Niagara. Originally from Sanborn, N.Y., he completed an undergraduate degree in History and Political Science from Niagara University in 2016 and joined AmeriCorps shortly after graduation. As a VISTA, he has helped Literacy Buffalo-Niagara to expand and establish several Literacy Drop In Centers in Buffalo and Lackawanna and also oversees the agency’s workforce development program.
With a strong passion for social justice issues, particularly around immigration and mass incarceration, Notaro is excited for the opportunity to delve deeper into community organizing. He entered the Emerging Leaders program to expand his skills and knowledge to work toward challenging systemic oppression and injustice and effecting long-lasting changes in his community.
