Evan Jackson is an African American man raised in Buffalo, NY, who has had the opportunity to see all of the things that the city has to offer. Growing up in Buffalo, Evan is highly aware that his home city is one of the most segregated cities in America. He has a passion for working with all sorts of people to help others and break down barriers.
Evan has had many opportunities that helped shape him into the man he is today. Evan was blessed to work in the education field helping students in the classroom as a teacher assistant. He has also worked with older students in high school as a youth advocate helping students with their academics, attitude, attendance, college search, job search and more. However, he has not limited his work to one age group or demographic. Evan has worked as an IRA specialist providing care and assistance for seniors in a group home environment, and he has also done workforce development with recently incarcerated individuals who were recently incarcerated and returning home to the community, as well as housing and rental assistance for individuals who lost employment due to the pandemic.
Evan joined the Emerging Leaders program in order to network with others, become a stronger leader in his community, and also be a positive impact on anyone who he meets. One day Evan hopes to be a director for an organization that offers one-stop wraparound services including certifications, housing assistance, workforce development, food, clothing, and more!
