“He who CONSIDERS the poor, LENDS to the Lord.” -Proverbs 19:17
Unlike man, when you lend to God, God pays back.
Rachel Manor proudly served as president (formerly) and current member of Queen City Workers Center. Her leadership with this group motivates her to act when she is discouraged in a world that continues to keep people at a disadvantage.
Rachel also served on the NYS Office of Mental Health Consumer Advisory Board representing the clients at BestSelf Behavioral Health. As a member of the advisory board, she was able to bring about improvements to the Franklin PROS program, including securing better food options for clients and a change of décor to create a more welcoming environment and set an atmosphere of harmony for staff and members alike. Getting these changes implemented added to Rachel’s motivation to make further changes.
When Rachel was recently pushed out of the BestSelf PROS program, where she had been a member for seven years, she organized some of her Emerging Leaders colleagues to advocate for transparency and an opportunity to speak her truth. She continues to be an advocate for the creation of mental health programs that are truly person-centered and affirm the dignity and self-determination of participants.
