SayVette Brice is Buffalo native, born and raised in the East Side. She is a graduate of Medaille University and currently manages and is the instructor for the RISE (Readying Individuals for Success and Employment) Program of FeedMore WNY. SayVette is very involved in her community. She has devoted her life and vocation to the service of others, particularly those who have experienced justice involvement, substance use disorder, poverty, racism, and low opportunity. SayVette recruits the adult community members who face high barriers to employment into her program. Once in the program, she teaches work and life skills that empower them to obtain and maintain good, living-wage jobs with quality employers and target economic stability. SayVette sits on two local workforce development coalitions, the East Side Workforce Development Coalition facilitated by the Oishei Foundation and the Workforce Collaborative co-facilitated by multiple nonprofit organizations focused on workforce development in Western New York. Being a member of Open Buffalo-Emerging Leader of 2024, SayVette plans to affect meaningful change in the community.
