Last summer, Open Buffalo offered local social justice allies 15 scholarships for VISIONS, an 8-week photography class through CEPA Gallery. This hands-on course was designed for community-minded partners of the Open Buffalo network. It covered the technical basics of taking a powerful photograph (** using any type of camera **), and inspired participants to unleash their inner creativity to build a better Buffalo.
The VISIONS course expanded participants' visual communications skills and strengthen their capacity to engage broad and diverse audiences in their critical missions. It will also provide a platform for organizers to uncover and elevate important stories within our community.
The program culminates in a 1-week gallery showing and a reception/silent auction, where photos from each participant are sold to raise funds for the Open Buffalo Emerging Leaders program.
