A fund has been established to assist the residents of the Fruit Belt community so that they will have a say in the building and revitalization of their community.
The residents of the Fruit Belt are working hard to ensure they will have a part in their community's development. The creation of a Community Land Trust will give the residents of Fruit Belt the ability to keep rents affordable, develop affordable housing, and have a say in the type of buildings that can and should be created in thier community. In order to have a voice funding is needed, in order to ensure that existing needs are meet without compromising future generations, funds are needed.In order to invest in the infrastructure of the community and to help insure that residents who currenty live in the Fruit Belt will be able to remain in their homes, funds are needed.
Why is funding for the Land Trust so important?
Currently, there are over 200 city-owned lots in the Fruit Belt community. Through a mechanism such as a land trust the purchase of these properties would enable the residents to have a say in what type of housing or other types of structures could be developed on these sites. This is why structuring and funding the land trust is extremely important and beneficial to the residents of the Fruit Belt.
Donations from neighbors, friends, former residents, those with a vested interest, the help of everyone is sorely needed as time is swiftly running out. As the window of opportunity for the purchase of those vacant lots is closing, the residents of the Fruit Belt community need your help.
