Beginning on June 6 2017, twenty-five dynamic, passionate leaders - representing a diverse range of identities from Buffalo's West Side - will complete a curriculum combining classroom training with hands-on field experiences in asset mapping, organizing, navigating systems and housing law. Participants will be selected based on their proven track record of demonstrated leadership in their communities.
Local partners from across the West Side Promise Neighborhood collaborative join forces to deliver an eight-week program which will include four all-day trainings and six evening workshops, in addition to a graduation celebration. In addition, each participant will be paired with a mentor to further build brides between communities and organizations in our city. The program aims to raise up new leaders on Buffalo's West Side and empower residents on the West Side to have a voice in the West Side Promise Neighborhood coalition.
All participants will receive a full scholarship to participate in the program at no charge. This will include the cost of food at the trainings. Each scholarship is valued at $750.
