Two calls were sounded earlier this month in The Buffalo News to end the practice of foreclosing and then auctioning off city houses for unpaid garbage fees.
A number of organizations were involved in advocating for more reasonable regulations, including the Partnership for the Public Good.
“I think people recognize the current system isn’t functioning the way it’s supposed to,” said PPG co-director, Sam Magavern in The Buffalo News. The group of housing advocates submitted their proposed changes to the regulations to the Common Council.
