BUFFALO – Last weekend, two dozen change-makers from Buffalo came together to build the training team for Open Buffalo’s Justice Leadership Institute (JLI). Dedicating three days from the summer season, Open Buffalo’s 2019 Trainers experienced the intensive social justice curriculum that they will facilitate for 100 community members in September, and strengthened their skills as a cohesive, diverse cohort of instructors.
This powerful entry into the community workshop of peer-to-peer coaching, storytelling and organizing enabled new trainers to feel “energized,” “welcomed,” and “ready,” for the upcoming JLI weekend, where they will share out this knowledge to grow the network of activists in our city and region.
Many thanks to the Leading Change Network and Open Buffalo Leadership Development team for their commitment to prepare our facilitators with this opportunity for deep learning and mentoring!
Open Buffalo’s mission is to advance racial, economic, and ecological justice. We do so through skill-building, network connecting, and activating leadership opportunities. Our goal is that all communities in Western New York are thriving free from discrimination and poverty.
