Muralist Chuck Tingley works on the new mural at Skateland that commemorates the Ferry Street Corridor Project.
Buffalo, N.Y. -- The Skateland Mural Raising Party, held last Sunday, was an open, inclusive, outdoor/indoor, family-friendly, community-wide celebration of diversity in the (skating) arts, as honored and depicted in a new 10ftx50ft. Chuck Tingley mural on the outside of Skateland's front-facing, north wall.
Partygoers participated in the final phase of the mural by helping to add stencils and filling in the trademark Skateland colors to the kinetic shapes that weave through and bind together the new work.
Through partnership with Friends of the Buffalo Story and its Ferry Street Corridor Project, Open Buffalo is proud to sponsor the Skateland mural, which will serve as a lasting vestige of the connective tissue the project has woven in the Ferry Street community over the past year.
