Free Special Edition Newspaper Advocates for a Renaissance in All Buffalo Neighborhoods
7,000 Copies of ‘No Boundaries’ on newsstands throughout WNY this Friday
BUFFALO, NY – In collaboration with Open Buffalo, Rise Collaborative is debuting the first issue of No Boundaries - a special-edition, free newspaper that delivers stories from typically underreported areas of Buffalo. Community advocates from throughout the city have contributed articles, photography and poetry about the neighborhoods they call home. The paper’s mission is to introduce a new way of thinking about neglected areas of the city once thought too dangerous, too broken, or too different for outsiders to try to understand. No Boundaries is hitting newsstands throughout Western New York this Friday, October 14.
Not only is this new medium showing progress and encouraging collaboration, No Boundaries is raising funds for Open Buffalo – a community movement for social and economic justice. Through advertising sales from local businesses, Rise Collaborative is donating all proceeds to the Open Buffalo Emerging Leaders Program, a leadership development school that empowers burgeoning community builders in Buffalo.
“What’s really exciting about No Boundaries is that we’re highlighting the change makers in our city. We’re proud to give a platform for individuals to tell how they’re working to make a better Buffalo,” said Open Buffalo Executive Director Franchelle Hart. “The paper is bringing up issues that aren’t being talked about enough, like homelessness, law enforcement on the East Side, and affordable housing — concerns that need and deserve conversation.”
The inaugural issue of No Boundaries will be available to the public where other free local publications are found. Rise Collaborative plans to produce a sequel issue in the coming months, with funds going to more organizations advocating for positive change in Buffalo.
