National Scholar Dr. Marc Lamont Hill to Engage Hundreds in Buffalo this Thursday
Hill is a well-respected authority on culture, politics, and education, as well as the author of a New York Times Best Seller.
BUFFALO – On Thursday, October 26 (6pm-8pm), Dr. Marc Lamont Hill, a nationally renowned thought-leader, activist, and author on combating systemic injustice and creating opportunities for challenged communities, will visit Buffalo to engage a diverse and energized crowd of hundreds in a unique community talk.
Dr. Hill, whose published books include the New York Times best-seller Nobody: Casualties of America’s War on The Vulnerable from Ferguson to Flint and Beyond, will be in Buffalo as the headline speaker in Open Buffalo’s second annual Justice & Opportunity Series. This guest speaker and the multi-generational crowd assembled will delve into issues of community justice, opportunity, civic engagement, inspiration, and empowerment.

Parker, Executive Director of Open Buffalo. “With his expertise on the issues that directly affect our society and our youth, we’re looking forward to attendees walking away with a wealth of knowledge that will surely inspire them to empower themselves and others.”
At this event, Open Buffalo will also celebrate the top finishers in its "Youth Community Builder" Contest, in which local high school students designed community-improvement projects and competed for funds to implement their ambitious plans.

Dr. Hill has written extensively on the criminal justice system, racism and social oppression, culture, politics, and education. He has also regularly contributed his viewpoints on CNN, Fox News, VH1, and BET News. Dr. Hill’s visit will help us to develop a lasting infrastructure for youth engagement and empowerment, as he will educate our community about proven models for student organizing.
