Founder/Director of Prisoners Are People Too, Inc:
After attending a monthly meeting of Prisoners Are People Too (PRP2) last year, Canisius College student David Goodwin worked with the college's Video Institute to produce a short documentary entitled, "The Very Same House: Recidivism in Buffalo." With the assistance of the Video Institute's Director, Dr. Barbara Irwin, Goodwin has produced a film that clearly defines “recidivism,” its causes and cures.
George BaBa Eng, Program Director for PRP2, is interviewed in the film. Following 36 years of incarceration, years of research, and two years of re-entering society, his words ring with authority.
The film was first screened at the college back in April of this year. PRP2 shared it with attendees at its August 2015 monthly meeting. Goodwin, our guest speaker, explained why he chose this topic, how the film was produced, and what he learned about Buffalo and criminal injustice. Those in attendance applauded his efforts and thanked him for taking time to illuminate an issue that impacts this entire community.
