Campaign Corner: Organizing, Outreach on Community Policing

Our Justice and Opportunity Table is developing a campaign plan for 2016. Currently, the table is focused on bringing true Community-Oriented Policing practices to the city of Buffalo.
Open Buffalo recently signed on Shareef Ali II as our part-time organizer for this table. Shareef will be helping to carry out Community Talks as a means of hearing about individuals’ experiences and interactions with police. These community talks will take place in homes and community centers throughout the city of Buffalo to give a variety of folks safe spaces to share their stories. In the spring of 2016, we'll be launching a community survey, administered by trained volunteers, to gain a broader perspective of resident-police relations. Both of these outreach plans will inform the direction of the table.
