On Monday, May 13, Open Buffalo hosted a press conference commemorating the two-year mark after the white-supremacist terrorism attack that claimed the lives of 10 Black people in Buffalo at the Tops market on Jefferson Avenue. The event was well attended, as OB staff stood alongside youth program participants and dozens of clients of our "Race, Power, and Privilege" anti-racism program. We proudly announced that over the last two years, our RPP program has trained more than 1,500 individuals, and we remain dedicated to eradicating systemic racism through new partnerships, advocacy, and organizing.
Below is a roundup of media coverage of our event and May 14 commemoration activities.
