What a phenomenal weekend kicking off the Youth Action Levels Up (YALU) Program! Despite experiencing nearly every weather season in just two days, our young leaders showed up with incredible energy, enthusiasm, and an openness to learn, grow, and connect with one another.
The weekend was intentionally designed to build confidence, strengthen relationships, and encourage self-reflection. Participants began their journey with a refreshing hike, using the time outdoors to ground themselves in nature and begin forming connections with their peers. Throughout the weekend, activities focused on trust-building, teamwork, and creativity. Youth engaged in a collaborative painting exercise that encouraged expression and trust, while guided breathing and mindfulness techniques helped them slow down, reflect, and remain present in the moment.
The energy continued to build through a series of team-building challenges, including an obstacle course and relay races that tested communication, resilience, and collaboration. These activities were not just about competition, they were about learning how to support one another, problem-solve together, and push beyond perceived limits.
To close out the weekend, participants took part in a powerful reflective exercise by writing letters to their future selves. In these letters, they outlined the growth they hope to achieve, the goals they are working toward, and the success they envision for themselves over the next three months. This moment of reflection allowed each participant to intentionally set their intentions and begin manifesting their full potential.
This kickoff weekend marks just the beginning of an exciting journey for our YALU cohort. Over the coming months, these young leaders will continue to build their skills, strengthen their voices, and deepen their commitment to personal growth and community impact.
The journey toward leadership, confidence, and purpose has officially begun — and we cannot wait to see all that these young people accomplish.
