Our Impact

I joined Open Buffalo’s Youth Action in the beginning of 2020, and have been an active member in the group ever since. In a world of inequality, being able to work with a group of changemakers empowers me. We have to fight for our voices to be heard and we have to strive to amplify the voices of marginalized communities. Open Buffalo reminds Youth Action members that we are strong. That we are resilient. That we can change the world together.

Open Buffalo’s Youth Action instills within its members valuable leadership skills, and provides workshops on topics including environmental justice, racial justice, and even career services; in order to equip Youth Action members with the tools needed to build a brighter future.

Youth are taken seriously at Open Buffalo. Too often the voices of youth who are passionate, who have ideas, who want to create change are degraded and not treated as valuable. But at Open Buffalo, youth are taught that they have the power to positively impact society. I came to Open Buffalo feeling helpless about the issues I was seeing in my community and in society at large. I knew there were problems, I knew I had a responsibility to act; but I didn’t know how. Open Buffalo has helped me to develop confidence and the organizational skills necessary to make my ideas a reality.
